Austin Red Week

October 11 to October 18

October is full of fun ways to get involved and make a difference for HIV and AIDS Service Organizations here in Central Texas! There are an estimated 6,000 people living with HIV and AIDS in Central Texas, and approximately 20 percent of those people don’t know their status.

We aim to heighten awareness of HIV and AIDS in Austin through a week of coordinated events, October 11 to 18.

OctoTea Dance 14
October 11

The week kicks off with the OctoTea Dance, organized by the all-volunteer Octopus Club. Every penny of ticket sales from this fun event goes to the Paul Kirby Emergency Fund, which provides relief to people living with HIV who are having a financial crisis. More on Octo Tea>>

National Latino HIV/AIDS Awareness Day
October 15

The AIDS epidemic is a serious threat to the Hispanic and Latino community. Hispanics and Latinos comprise 15 percent of the US population, but accounted for 17 percent of all new HIV infections occurring in the United States in 2006. Join us in commemorating this day to increase awareness in the Latino community. More info>>
