Transgender Day of Remembrance

On November 21, 2009, Transgender Education Network of Texas and supporters will stand in solidarity with others around the world to mark the 11th Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance. The Transgender Day of Remembrance has been set aside to memorialize those who were killed because they were perceived to be transgender or gender-diverse.

Transgender Education Network of Texas will hold this vigil at 6:30 PM at the Austin City Hall Plaza. The vigil will include speakers from the LGBTQ community, community leaders, and allies.

From Rifka Reichler, Co-Chair of Day of Remembrance 2009: "It is important that all of us who are fighting intolerance and injustice in our world come together to remember those who have been killed because they dared be themselves. Please join your voice in this memorial."
