Hope Food Pantry Austin’s Hunger Meal Today (2/21) – 5PM

Hope Food Pantry Austin’s 3rd Annual Hunger Meal Fundraiser is 5 pm today, Sunday, February 21, 2010, at St. John’s United Methodist Church (2140 Allandale Road.) Tickets for the event are $15 at the door.

The Hunger Meal serves two purposes: to educate the public about hunger issues in the community and to raise funds to support the mission. Similar to the way we serve food recipients, attendees are divided by a lottery into upper, middle and lower income status groups represented in Travis County. The dinner served depends on the group chosen. The upper-income group will be served a 4-course meal by a wait staff, the middle-income group will have a buffet-style pasta dinner, and the low-income group will
eat rice and beans. There will also be a silent auction.

To purchase tickets or for more information, contact Stephanie Humphreys at 512-744-5136 or info@hopefoodpantryaustin.org.

About Hope Food Pantry Austin:

Partners with Capital Area Food Bank and other organizations, Hope Food Pantry Austin’s, mission is to alleviate hunger by sustaining, strengthening, and educating disadvantaged families in our community. Hope meets their mission by providing about 4 days worth of groceries to disadvantaged families in need. Because there is more demand than supply, we are unable to serve everyone and clients are chosen by a lottery. In 2008, we served approximately 8000 individuals half of whom were children.

Hope Food Pantry Austin (Hope) is a non-profit organization under the umbrella of Trinity United Methodist Church and is located at 600 E. 50th Street 78751.
