The Capitol of Texas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association is hosting a new Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group every first Friday of the month at 6:30pm beginning tomorrow, May 7th. The support group will meet for about an hour at Renaissance Village, 11279 Taylor Draper Lane. There will be no charge for this valuable service, which will provide an avenue for caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients to share common experiences in a safe environment and learn from others. Support groups like this one are a great place to discover creative solutions for issues particular to caring for someone with memory loss. They can help the caregiver feel more in control and are a great resource for disease and caregiving information.
More than 5.3 million people in the United States are currently living with Alzheimer’s. The Alzheimer’s Association is a non-profit organization that has served 17 counties in Central Texas since 1984. Their mission is to provide the community with leadership to enhance care for individuals and their families who suffer from this disease.
