!UNITED METHODIST FREE STORE
On November 20 from 10am to 3pm, United Methodists will gather at Memorial UMC (6100 Berkman Drive, Austin) to practice radical hospitality, extravagant generosity and risk-taking mission and service as we provide the opportunity for parents to shop for a winter outfit for 760 Harris Elementary students. Directly across the street from Memorial UMC, the majority of Harris Elementary students live at or below the poverty level.
How Can I Help?
Organize: a children’s winter clothing drive at your church, preschool, neighborhood elementary school or local store, gather clothing from neighbors, friends, family members
Donate: New, or gently used, clean children’s fall/winter clothes, hangers (NO STAINED OR UNWASHED CLOTHES, UNDERWEAR, SHOES, SOCKS)
Give: $$ will fund overhead (rack rental, storage pod, publicity to school, hospitality)
Volunteer: sort clothing at Memorial UMC, transport your church’s sorted clothing items to Memorial by November 14th, help set up Nov. 17-19
Volunteer: Nov 20 – greet, give directions, answer questions, hospitality, assist families, restock clothing, clean up. We have significant need for those who speak Spanish on Nov 20.
Please let the District Office know when you and/or your group intends to volunteer. 512 444 1983
