America’s Sunday Supper Planning Committee – 1st Meeting 11/29

On Sunday, January 15, 2012, we are inviting the community to participate in a discussion about our most pressing social issues in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Inspired by the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., America’s Sunday Supper is a community-by-community, nationwide conversation in which people from all backgrounds come together to share a meal, discuss issues that affect their community and highlight the power each person has to make a difference!

Trinity United Methodist Church is inviting individuals and organizations within the community to partner with us on this event. It will not be an event with any religious or political focus; rather, it will be an opportunity for open communication about the issues facing our local community. Our belief is that in creating partnerships, networking, and sharing ideas and energy, we can all better reach those most in need.

Please RSVP to be a Partner at www.facebook.com/events/299542733399708 or by emailing Amy at mail@trinitychurchofaustin.org.  Join us Tuesday, November 29th at 6 pm for our first planning meeting. At this meeting we will:

* Set a time for the January 15 event.
* Determine whether or not we will screen a film highlighting a particular social issue.
* Create a planning outline with action items and set any future planning meeting dates.
* Start a dialogue regarding a collaborative community service project for the MLK Day of Service.

Regardless of whether or not you are able to partner with us on this event, we hope that you will share this invitation with other individuals and organizations in your network in order to gather a diverse group of voices both in the planning of the event and at the event itself.
