Hope Food Pantry Austin’s 5th annual fundraiser was held on Sunday, February 26th at Tarrytown UMC. Fitting to the Mardi Gras theme, Nubian Queen Lola catered a full meal of rice and beans, cornbread, fried chicken, bread pudding, and New Orleans tea. Contributions from Hyde Park Bar and Grill, Central Market and Maine Root Beer rounded out the menu. The award winning Khabele jazz band played during the silent auction portion of the event.
The event was the largest yet in Hope’s fundraising five years of fundraising events, meeting the goal of educating over 170 participants on the issues of hunger in our own backyards while raising over $9000 to help support Hope’s mission of alleviating hunger by distributing groceries to our neighbors in need. The funds raised will help supply our clients with staple items such as tuna, rice and beans, and canned fruit and vegetables. Thank you to both attendees and to those of you who were there in spirit. You make all the difference in Hope’s mission to serve the community!
It is only with the support of Hope’s partner churches, and especially our Trinity “home” that we are able to meet our mission.
