Eagle Scout Project at Trinity – May 5

Some Boy Scouts from Troop 454 will be volunteering their time to clean up and repaint the church parking lot on Saturday, May 5, 2012. They will give it a good cleaning, then repaint the parking space lines, and guest and handicap spot markings. The group will fix picnic tables in front of the church and give them a fresh coat of paint. Finally, they will make a more sturdy and permanent bench to replace to old one at the bus stop in front of the church.

Church members are welcome and needed to help with the project. On Friday, May 4, beginning around 5:30, we’ll need volunteers with sturdy brooms, shovels and rakes to clean piles of dirt and gravel from the parking lot. We’ll also need people with weeding tools to remove the weeds and grass growing from the asphalt and around the parking spaces. After the parking lot is cleaned of debris and stray weeds and grass, we’ll power wash the lot and let it dry overnight. We’d love to have several adults or teens from the church to help with this task, and will provide pizza and soft drinks to any volunteers. If you can join us on Friday night, please bring your own broom, dustpan, shovel or rake.

On Saturday, May 5, the Scouts will work from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. painting the parking lot, repairing and painting the picnic tables, and building the new bench for the bus stop. We may still be removing some of the grass and weeds from the parking lot. Adult and teen volunteers are welcome for some or all of this time. Supplies needed on Saturday include: paint roller handles, paint roller pans, electric sanders, electric drills, gloves, flat shovels, and weed-pulling tools. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for volunteers.

If you can help on Friday or Saturday, please contact Eagle Scout candidate Scott Stevens atsasdiz11@gmail.com.  The most critical time help is needed is on Friday.
