4:30 – 6:00 Festivities at Fire Station.
The 38th Annual Fire Station Festival honors and celebrates the partnership between the fire station and the Hyde Park Neighborhood Association, the effectiveness of citizen involvement, and those who provide great service within our neighborhood. It is also where the leadership torch is passed from past to future officers of HPNA. Our fire station has been saved twice by the citizen involvement that is the raison d’etre of our neighborhood association. (Read the full story here). Together we make a difference in what happens in our neighborhood; come together and celebrate it!
Join your neighbors at 3:30pm in Shipe Park (44th and Avenue F) for a festive neighborhood parade to the fire station. Halloween costumes and decorated wheels (strollers, scooters, trikes, bikes and skateboards) are encouraged!
The Festival formally begins when the Parade arrives at the Fire Station (43rd and Speedway) where you will find live music, family friendly entertainment, treats, tours of the fire truck, information booths, and prizes for child, adult, and pet costumes. Bring $5 to join or renew your HPNA memberhsip, and a picnic blanket or chairs.
Bring a Book to Donate
We are supporting Heart House now known as Behive, again. http://behiveaustin.org. Through their afterschool programs, they provide a safe haven for children and encourage good citizenship. Gently used books for K-6 children are needed. Bring books to Shipe Park and look for Lynda Baker with the red wagon to drop off your books before you march in the parade. Also, look for the donation box at the Fire Station Festival and at Fresh Plus two weeks prior to the Festival.
