This Sunday is our last chance to collect donations for goody bags that will go to children at the Ronald McDonald House at Dell Children’s Hospital. We haven’t received much yet, so greatly appreciate any contibutions you might have – small toys/items, yummy treats, and notes of kindness. Suggestions for small toys/items include crayons/markers, water colors, pencils, erasers, paper, word searches, small containers of playdough, little toy cars, hair barrettes, children’s jewelry, etc.
Why are we doing this?
Many families cope with the loss of a loved one by giving back to those who helped them during their difficult time. Sandra Rios lost her 22 month old granddaughter, Sophie, this summer to Congenital Cytomegaly Virus (CMV). Only 13% of women have heard ofCMV, yet more children have disabilities due to this disease than to other well-known infections and syndromes, including Down Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Spina Bifida, and Pediatric HIV/AIDS. CMV is passed as simply as the common cold.
