PONDERING THE NEWS: A SPIRITUAL WAY TO REFRAME DAILY NEWS
Led by Deborah Franke
The news media is a powerful and seemingly ever-present force bringing all of the pains of our troubled world into our daily lives. Some people choose media fasts. Others harden hearts to get through it, feel despair, or react with anger and protest. Is there another way? Yes, the seven steps of Pondering the News offers a way to turn the daily news that bombards our hearts and minds from a toxin to a tonic. During the course, we will experience the paradox of how becoming more engaged with the daily news can reframe our daily news consumption into a liberating force that helps us to become a brighter light to the world around us.

Deborah Franke, MSOD, is passionate about the role contemplatives have in building strong organizations and communities. Deborah serves the Austin contemplative community on the Board of Directors at eremos, as leader of the Pondering the News program (a spiritual way to reframe daily news), and as President of an independent, Austin-based consulting company.
